Today I should have been at Yorkshire Sculpture Park learning more about working with metal using hot and cold techniques. This course last year was the highlight of 2019. Over 5 days I experimented with cutting, shaping and welding steel. There was complete freedom under expert supervision and mentoring of Brian and George Fell and Owen Cunningham who provided advice, materials and techniques as they were needed. It was freeing and challenging. I loved every minute of it. I have not really progressed it any further as the cutting and welding tools are not very portable, but have been planning work to develop this year. It looks like I will need to think of other ways to work with it that will work in my suburban garden instead.
